Heather Joy James

Ordained in 2011 Rev. Heather Joy James, is the fifth Rev. James in her family. A gifted preacher, writer, & worship leader, Heather Joy believes the primary work of the church is to know Christ and to make Christ known in the world. She is passionate about making disciples and empowering believers to live authentic, faith-filled lives. She believes church can be a wonderful place to learn and grow in faith and delights in seeing the church shine Christ's light into the community.

 Heather Joy spent 6 months in 2015 learning about the Monastic Rhythms of life by living with the Sisters of St. John the Divine, an Anglican order of Nuns. She has spent time working with and learning from the Emmaus Community: a New Monastic Community in Victoria, BC. She is also a Practitioner of the Church Renewal Program, an inter-denominational movement to renew the church in Canada through Prayer, Discipleship, and Spiritual Practices. She is a trained Fitness Instructor and is a Master Instructor in Holy Yoga. She loves to sing, swim, and has twice completed the IronGirl Triathlon.

 Heather Joy was formerly the Lead Minister at Cayuga United Church in Ontario & most recently, Cambie Village Church: A ministry of Chown Memorial & Chinese United Church here in Vancouver. Her formative years were spent at Wellington Square United Church in Burlington, Ontario, where her father Rev. Dr. Orville James recently retired as the Lead Minister after 43 years serving in ministry.

She lives in Vancouver with her husband Stevan Mirkovich, and their three children Logan, Nolan, and Juliana.
